Career Club asks ...

Do you scoff at the sophomoric, or realize you were once like that too? Do you rue your obsessions, or do they make you feel human? Do you pity disfigured people, or stare at them a little too long? If you answered 'yes' to all of these questions, the no doubt you will also say yes to the Career Club!

Career Club was founded in Brooklyn, USA in April of 2006 by a trio of friends (HANS GUTKNECHT on guitar and vocals, JENS CARSTENSEN on bass and LISA KLIMKIEWICZ on drums) who understand that beautiful songs can have gruesome subjects, hopelessness might be your only hope, and your best friends can be your worst enemies.

Drawing their influences from the 4-track to the horse track, from Coney Island to Coney Island Baby, from The Jam to toast with jam, Career Club has built a reputation for tight but rousing performances around New York City and Brooklyn, with emphasis on drive, memorable songs, and twists on the tried-and-true. KLIMKIEWICZ determinedly propels, CARSTENSEN hammers away and leaps around a lot, while GUTKNECHT's odd chords lay the foundation for the band's overt melodies and sly lyricism.

And now this: the Career Club's never-say-no attitude has resulted in a spirited, self-released debut,
The New Record, where guitars chime, bass throbs and cymbals clang at a brisk pace, like good rock music should, as GUTKNECHT's rough tenor croon allows the hooks to take center stage.

So if you're looking for a band that's poker-faced at their most ironic and earnest at their goofiest, straightforward but free-spirited, with a sound that's neither old nor new, join the club. The Career Club.
