Details:
Tinge of Tangerine is Dawn Boudreauâs first CD recording. In April of 2005, Dawn decided to do a live recording performance to use as a base for a CD. Moses Kostamo of Moko Productions was the best man for such a job. After about 10 months of studio musicians and overdubbing, Tinge of Tangerine was the result, 12 original compositions of a blend of jazz and folk in an easy listening style.
Teaching singers at B&B Music Studio enables Boudreau to share her love of music, while singing in Prince George venues like Café Voltaire, The Waddling Duck, and Kizmet Café, give her an outlet for her own music and her other love, jazz standards. The influence of Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell and the inspiration of her loving partner, Shawn Petriw, and her three children, keep her writing and loving the experiences life brings.
"Writing music allows me to make sense of my emotional world. Much of my writing starts while I am driving in the car by myself, then I take it to the piano to put the piece together.
Each song is a part of my soul and tells a part of my story. While I mainly write for myself and to express my point of view, listeners are drawn to my music because it resonates with their emotional world as well. For this reason, I enjoy performing live, because I can see the connection in the eyes of my audience.
While I love jazz and am inspired to write within that style, my early musical influences are strongly rooted in folk music, resulting in an eclectic jazz-folk hybrid."
