Details:
Fusion was formed in early October of 2005. The band's original members, Kyle Batenburg, Bryce Barrett, Nate Kepner and Dan Rawson, 'fused' unimaginably fast and wrote over 25 songs in the first few weeks of practice!! They immediately set their sites on the recording studio. Within one month of being together, Fusion recorded at Studio L in Weirton, W.VA. "Feel Me", "Never Back Down", "Alive", and "In Aeternum" (a song written for the unfortunate passing of Lead Singer Kyle Batenburg's friend Russell Moran) were the first 4 tracks. This was only the beginning, however. For the next couple of months, the band played a few local shows, some opening for guitarist Nate Kepner's parents' band Mongo Huey, and others headlining. Soon they would add 6 more tracks to their 4 previously recorded and started selling cd's. Eventually tension had built over miscommunication and the band broke up. Seperate paths were taken but fate seemed to pull the guys back together with an entrance and acceptance into the first round of the Bodog competition. The guys decided to resolve their differences and agreed that it wasn't worth giving up this oppurtunity. At this point, bass player Matt Huggins was added to the lineup. Fortunately, work schedules would still leave them with limited practice. So limited that they only practiced ONE full band practice before the first round of the competition. This didn't steer them away from absolute confidence in winning. August 3rd. FINALLY (It seemed liked FOREVER) came around and round 1 was underway. The band brought their guitars, songs, and about 15 fans to Philadelphia (Nearly 6 hours away from their hometown) and considered themselves the unannounced underdogs of the comepetition. Surely enough they did move on to the next round by winning first place by voting of the crowd. Preparations for the next round were underway and there were high hopes of advancing to the city finals. Fusion did advance to the final city round that was filmed by FUSE on December 3rd. The band returned to 4 members before this final round. The Burndown All-Stars won this final city round and will represent Philadelphia at the final round of the entire competition set to be played in Los Angeles. Says Kyle Batenburg of the competition, "Our main goal is the interaction between ourselves and all our fans through our songs. We want people to relate with every note and every word of every song. After all, music is a Fusion of all of these elements and that is what our message is about."
