Resophonic Rodeo is a western swing instrumental cd performed on dobro/resonator guitar by Nashville touring and session musician Gary Morse. Gary has played pedal steel guitar and dobro on many top cd's recorded in Nashville including recent releases by Dierks Bentley, Carrie Underwood, Lonestar, Sara Evans and Dwight Yoakam.
What makes this cd unusual is that most of these songs are traditionally performed on steel guitar as opposed to dobro. Gary's background led him to approach the dobro with more of a "steel guitar attitude" resulting in a playing technique that is both innovative and unique
Another interesting aspect of this project is that all of the instruments (with the exception of bass guitar) are non-amplified acoustic instruments. The resonator guitar, in particular, is unique due to Gary incorporating an innovative 7-string G6 tuning rarely found on dobro.
