A self-proclaimed âhobbyist musician,â Sean began playing piano at the age of 10. Composition began in earnest as an outlet for emotional stress while attending college at Utah State University. âI would have liked to play the popular songs,â remembers Sean, âbut my skill at the piano wasn't sufficient. It was very frustrating. One day I just started pounding the keyboard, and I was able to manage something of a melody line with some crude harmonies. It helped, so I kept working at it.â

It's been several years since those rough initial forays into composition, and songs come to him much more easily now. Asked how he goes about writing a new song, Sean admits âI can't really say. It's just something my fingers do while playing. They sort of have a mind of their own at the piano. The hard part is remembering what they do.â

Though Sean's love of music and composition is intense, he maintains his âday jobâ as an electrical engineer. Well, he does for the time being, at least.
