Details:
Verse, aka: A.James, was born on the dirt roads of Limbe, Haiti. By the time his mother reached the hospital, she had lost much blood, and died from further delivery complications. Following this, Verse was put up for adoption by his father, who couldn't afford to raise another child. His father was murdered by an angry mob, seeking revenge for his mother, and the rest of his family dispersed across the country, for fear of loosing their lives. This deep hatred for Verses' family was born through the practice of voodoo. After his father, who was a witch doctor, renounced his ways, and became a Christian, he was no longer feared by many of his enemies.(following this he was murdered) Verse was soon adopted by the missionary doctor, who had performed the operation for his birth-mother. This gives Verse an understanding of what family truly is. A bond deeper than blood. After traveling much of the world on mission trips, Verse was inspired by the diversity. He decided to pursue a life of music, at the age of 17, after turning down a chance to study at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NY,NY. Later he traveled the east coast, expanding his knowledge, and musical ability. In 2005, he started his publishing company, "Verse Publishing" in association with SESAC, and his indie label "Smoov Entertainment". His latest cd, "Why a Playa Play (EP)", which he wrote, and produced is to be followed by the full album(LP). Currently, Verse is working on what he calls, "Acoustic Hip-Hop, and R&B". His music, much like himself, knows no limit. From underground, to surround sound; Haiti, to India, to Brooklyn, to NC; Verse continues to evolve. He refuses to restrict the versatility of his music, and so it becomes harder for critics to put him in a box. One thing is certain; whether they love him, or detest him, Verse will continue to create his music.
