Details:
"As Snowblink, songbird Daniela Gesundheit makes hushed and eerily gorgeous music with a rotating cast of musicians, backup singers, and assorted whisperers. Gesundheit's voice is exquisite â a warbly, smoky, and delicate thing, somewhere between Jolie Holland and Cat Power. Her alias means "a white sky glow reflected from snowy fields," which aptly captures her sound, which is as crisp as a clear morning after a blizzard. "Ruby" is a showstopper."
-- Flavorpill San Francisco

Daniela Gesundheit was conceived in Las Vegas in July 1981.
Snowblink was conceived in Los Angeles, twenty-three years later.

Snowblink is the songs of Daniela Gesundheit played on electric guitar
featuring a rotating roster of four-to-seven boy back-up singers,
fiddle, harp, pedal steel, and party trumpets. Their festive
performances often err on the side of theatrical, with bells and
party-poppers dispersed throughout the audience and sounded at the
moment of an on-stage cue.

Gesundheit was born to Susan Lynn, a fourth generation Californian painter, and Jaime Joseph, an architect raised in an orchard in Mexico, in Los Angeles in the early eighties. They divided their time between LA, Malibu, southern California deserts, and the dormant volcanoes of the eastern Sierras. From these and other travels, Gesundheit culled a recurring tidal wave dream, an aversion to cold temperatures, and a pair of deer antlers that she has since affixed to her brotherâs hand-me-down electric guitar.

While Snowblink is currently based in San Francisco, the project has
members all across the US and Canada. The band members, located in San
Francisco, Toronto, Montreal, Brooklyn, Nantucket, Los Angeles, Lopez
Island, Ireland, Middletown, CT and Northampton, comprise a veritable
"little black book," on call should a tour bring Gesundheit to their
city. When in New York City, the men's back-up choir may include
members of Brooklyn-based MGMT; when in Montreal, Gesundheit may be
joined by a group of Quebecois chanson singers.

Snowblink has released two records independently since 2004: Interim
at Afton Villa and My Oh My Avalanche. The latter features the boy
back-up singers, harp, pedal steel, and fiddle, and was recorded in
Los Angeles, Berkeley, San Francisco, Toronto, and Middletown,
Connecticut in the Spring of 2006. Two of the tracks were produced and recorded by Tornotoâs Dan Goldman. My Oh My Avalanche is printed in a first-run limited edition format, with embossed envelopes and wallet size photos of the band.

Gesundheit has toured extensively throughout the US and Canada in support of My Oh My Avalanche, playing a breadth of venues ranging from small house concerts and art
galleries to opening for Patti Smith. Additionally, Snowblink was featured on NPRâs All Songs Considered Open Mic in October of 2006.

During a brief return to Los Angeles in 2002-2004, Gesundheit was an active participant in a range of LA performance art and dance troupes. In 2003, she was featured in the New York Times for her performance in Collage Dance Theaterâs Sleeping With The Ambassador under the direction of Heidi Duckler with music composed by
EAR Unit's Amy Knoles. She also performed in the NOW festival for dance at the Disney Concert Hall in 2003 with Company of Strangers.

In 2005, Gesundheit received a bachelor of arts degree in Composition and South
Indian Vocals from Wesleyan University. Her teachers included
Anthony Braxton, Alvin Lucier, T.Viswanathan, and B.
Balasubrahmaniyan.
