ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Classic Rock
Details:
Victims of the New Math consist of brothers Joe and Thomas Young. Their debut CD âSet Theoryâ¦Infinityâ has been a long time in the making â Two and a half years of recording, and almost 15 years of writing. The Victims started out recording in Joeâs spare bedroom in 1992, laying down early versions of their songs played on out-of-tune guitars, 80âs style Casio keyboards, and any percussion available (typically metal fan covers). A few years later, they progressed enough to lay down three tracks that, with only a few touch-ups, made the debut CD: âLittle Martin,â âOn the Run Again,â and âTawniâs Tattoo.â By the mid-nineties, the band had abandoned music altogether, but by 2002, armed with new guitars and new songs, they ran back to the studio, which was strangely still in Joeâs spare room.
So here now is their debut. The Victims sound combines late-sixties pop and rock song structures with 90âs style modern rock lyrics. The songs on âSet Theoryâ¦Infinityâ tell stories of lossâ¦loss of innocence, loss of love, loss of selfâ¦Yet underneath it all, through the music, glimmers hope. Check out the tunes, particularly âThinkinâ Lately,â âSix Feet underââ and âI Donât like You.â And come learn more about the band at www.victimsofthenewmath.com
