VANCOUVER â The youth team of ANCOP International (Canada) has released its first-ever benefit CD, âthe Answerâ, to raise funds for Gawad Kalinga.
The Answer is a compilation of 9 original songs written and performed by local amateur youth artists, recorded, engineered, mastered and manufactured entirely in Vancouver, BC. This is a unique project for ANCOP International (Canada) and is already attracting much attention nationally and internationally through its online and grassroots word-of-mouth promotion campaign.
Gawad Kalinga is a revolutionary social development movement which has been transforming communities in the third world since 2003. Created in the Philippines, its name is a Tagalog phrase which means âgive careâ. This holistic program includes five sub-programs: shelter, health, education, livelihood, and community development. The work of the foundation revolves around its bold vision of GK 777: 700,000 homes in 7,000 communities in 7 years. On its second year of the 7-year vision, it has built over 11,000 homes in 447 communities. It has also restored peace between Christians and Muslims in the Southern parts of the Philippines and has established committed partnerships with many areas of society in the Philippines, including the government, non-government associations, national media, multi-national corporations, and the United Nations.
ANCOP International is a multi-national non-profit organization tasked to raise funds for the projects of Gawad Kalinga. ANCOP, which stands for Answering the Cry of the Poor, is established in many countries all over the world, including the US, Canada, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Brunei, Singapore, and Hong Kong. It has hosted other annual events such as the Canadian GK Walk for the Poor and WOW GK.
