Solo piano jazz influenced by blues and free improvisation
10 MP3 Songs
BLUES: Piano Blues, JAZZ: Weird Jazz
Details:
Tor E 'Dr' Bekken is a pianist specializing in jazz, blues and free improvisation.
FLOOD STREET is his fifth solo cd. He has worked with New Orleans artists such as Eddie Bo, Big Al Carson and Marva Wright, and has performed at festivals and clubs in Europe.
He resides in Norway, where he plays festivals and clubs on a regular basis.
FLOOD STREET is named after a street in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. The street was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina, and whether or not it will be rebuilt remains to be seen. The album is a melancholy tribute to the city, the music, and the people who had to leave their homes due to the disaster.
Mr Bekken also works as a pianist for silent films, improvising on-the-spot scores for all kinds of vintage movies.
