Details:
Dimitri is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting and unique concert guitarists of his generation. From the United Kingdom to the islands of Hawaii, he has brought audiences to their feet with his commanding stage personae, soulful virtuosity and diverse repertoire. Dimitri's talent has also won him top prizes in the Wurlitzer National Soloist Competition, the Stetson University and Florida State University Concerto Competitions and the 2003 World Championships of Performing Arts Competition. His concerts frequently comprise styles from core classical repertoire to contemporary fingerstyle works. From the time he started formal lessons at the age of eight, his musical influences have been as diverse as his concert programs. Some of these styles include classical, reggae, rock ân roll, blues, country, African jazz, bluegrass and Latin jazz. At the age of eleven, he gave his first solo recital and would regularly perform on the streets of Boston. In 1990 he received a music scholarship to Stetson University and in 1994 he continued at Florida State University, where he earned his master's degree in 1996. During his college years he studied with some of the world's most respected teachers and performers, including Pepe Romero, David Russell, Roland Dyens, Oscar Ghiglia, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Scott Tennant, Andrew York, Bruce Holzman, Steve Robinson and Ben Verdery. Dimitri has four compact disc recordings: his debut, "SixString - 2000", "Acoustic Journey", "Pasion, Fuego y Romanza", and "Songs I Know by Heart". In 2006 Dimitriâs composition, âTango en Paraisoâ will be published by Mel Bay in a collection of contemporary works for solo guitar entitled, âAnthology of New Classic Guitar Solos Vol. 1â. He has his own page on www.CMT.com in the âNew Faces, No Coverâ link where his live performance is viewable from his September, 2004 visit to Nashville, Tennessee.
Presently, Dimitri lives in Hollywood, California where he teaches privately and performs regularly as a soloist, ensemble player and studio musician. He also has an active career as an actor. To view movie and concert videos, goto his website, www.dimitrid.com.
In September of 2006, Dimitri will be starring in the new TV series, "Table for Three", airing Monday thru Friday from 8 - 9pm on the new TV network called, MyNetwork, as Sergei Kraislov, the Russian Mafia boss. Look for the adds in August for the local affiliate in your city. The show is about organized crime..a la The Sopranos. Dimitri is also starring in the feature films, "Miriam" and "The Longest Yardsale", due out later this year.
