Details:
Standard Deviations are the northern Virginia based hip-hop duo poised to take over the game in 2006. Formed by 220 (born Michael Spagna in 1977) and DtheNextLevel (born Dominic Cicere in 1976) in late 2001, they are best known for their 2003 hit single âRip It Hotâ.

Standard Deviations began their career in music in 1995 as part of the groundbreaking NoVA trio known as The Rising Sons. The group released two albums on Rising Sons Records - âThe LPâ in 1996, and âNo Harm No Foulâ in 2000 - both were modest underground successes. Crowds in New York City and at various universities throughout Virginia and Maryland were treated to dazzling lyrical prowess, deft interplay, and often innovative production. After splitting from the RSR imprint, the remaining duo was compelled to carry the torch forward into the new millenium.

In late 2001, inspired by Jay-Zâs âThe Blueprintâ album, Standard Deviations once again hit the studio. Tracks seemed to materialize overnight during this time period. CDâs of certain tracks were circulated by various club DJâs - the Chaka Khan-based âAinât Nobodyâ was heard throughout the summer of 2002 in many a car and dance floor, most notably at Crush in Washington, D.C. Later that summer, SD took the city by storm at the monthly hip-hop showcase held at the now-defunct Metro Café, garnering interest from several labels including a Sony subsidiary. Needless to say, the deal fell through. The duo recorded a plethora of tracks, all produced by DtheNextLevel, and released them independently in 2003 as the compilation, âBlast the Lats If Necessaryâ.

In 2005, after a two year hiatus, 220 and D started laying down concepts for their next album. After several brainstorming sessions, the duo once again hit the studio to record their first single in three years. The result was âWe Make Hitsâ, a triumphant return to form, displaying their love of hip-hop and itâs associated bravado. Backed with the smoothed out flavor of âOff the Blickâ, SD is ready to do it all over again and start from scratch. Stay tuned for âThe DCâ, their new album due out in January 2007. And it donât stop...
