Nacida y creida en el Bronx, esta bella Puertorriqueña fue bendecida a tener unos padres que la apoyan mucho y que la introducieron a la musica, especialmente Salsa, desde su infancia. Ella recuerda que siempre estaba bailando por su casa y nunca sentiendose timida en frente de su familia. Cuanda era una niña, su padres siempre la llevaban a los desfiles y fiestas locales. Esto tambien ayudo a ser la chispa que incendio una pasion en Darlene para perseguir una carrera en musica y el mundo del entretenimiento.

Su primera entrada al mundo de entretenimiento y su principio a explorar y empezar a desrrollar su talentos artisticos fue a la edad de 10. A esa edad empiezo clases de baile de Plena, un baile tradicional de Puerto Rico. Ella lo aprendio muy rapido. A la edad de 14, ella participo en su primer festividad de belleza. Para el segmento de talento, ella espontaneamente decidio a cantar en frente de un publico por primer vez. Ella gano el segundo premio en su primer intento. Todavia a la edad de 14, ella audiciono para el Choir Academy de Harlem y fue aceptada. De ahi, ella se enrollo en el famoso Girls Choir of Harlem Concert Choir con quien ella hizo espectaculos en sitios como Alice Tully Hall en Washington D.C., en Good Morning America, para Vogue magazine y en el muy famoso Apollo Theater. Todo esto ocurrio cuando todavia estaba en escuela secundaria. Durante este tiempo, a la edad de 16, ella tambien gano el titulo de Miss Teen Puerto Rico para el gran desfile nacional de el Puerto Rican Day Parade y aparecio con su titulo en el show de Despierta America. Ella graduo a la edad de 17 como Valedictorian. En su primer año de Universidad, ella continuo su evolucion artistica con un grupo de Salsa que estaba en la Universidad. En el medio de su primer año con el grupo, la hicieron uno de los cantantes del frente. Durante su 4 años en Universidad, ellos hacieron espectaculos en sitios como el Hartford Civic Center, la Universidad de Hartford y en Trinity College. Tambien hacieron una actuacion con el gran Salsero Willie Colon. Despues de su graduacion en 2002, ella regreso a NY y empiezo hacer actuaciones en fiestas locales otra vez.

Con el estreno de su debut album "Simplemente Yo" y con su influencias fuerte como Celia Cruz, Olga Tañon, La Lupe, Brenda K. Starr, Shakira y J-Lo, Darlene espera a presentar su punto de vista de la vida, que es muy positiva. Ella quiere tratar de traer una union entre los jovenes y Latinos por su musica. Si su historia es una indicacion, hay mucha razon para creer que Darlene no solamente llegara a sus metas artisticas pero tambien tendra su nombre mencionada al lado de esas artistas que ella admira tanto.

Born and raised in the Bronx, this Puerto Rican beauty was blessed to have extremely supportive parents who exposed her to music, especially Salsa, basically since birth. She remembers always dancing around the house and never feeling shy to show off in front of family members. As a child, her parents always took her along to local festivals and parades, further exposing her to music and entertainment. This would become the spark that lit the fire and passion with which Darlene would begin to pursue a career in music and entertainment in later life.

Her first entry into entertainment and in beginning to explore and develop her creative talents was at age 10, when she took dance lessons in the art of Plena dancing, a traditional Puerto Rican folkloric dance. She quickly mastered this dance. At age 14, she participated in her first beauty pageant and spontaneously decided to sing in public for the first time for the talent portion of the pageant. She placed 2nd in her first ever beauty pageant. Still at age 14, she auditioned for the Choir Academy of Harlem and was accepted. She then quickly joined the famous Girls Choir of Harlem Concert Choir with whom she performed throughout her High School years at such places as Alice Tully Hall, in Washington D.C., on Good Morning America, for Vogue magazine and at the World Famous Apollo Theater. During this time, at age 16, she also won the title of Miss Teen Puerto Rico for the National Puerto Rican Day Parade and appeared with her title on the spanish morning show Despierta America. She graduated at age 17 as Valedictorian of her Senior class. As a College freshman, she continued her musical evolution by joining a Latin Student Ensemble. Halfway through her first year with the ensemble, she became one of the lead singers of the group. During her 4 years in College, they performed at such venues as the Hartford Civic Center, the University of Hartford and Trinity College among other places and also including a performance with el gran Salsero Willie Colon. After graduating in 2002, she came back to NY and once again began performing at local festivals and venues.

With the release of her debut album "Simplemente Yo" and with strong female influences such as Celia Cruz, Olga Tañon, La Lupe, Brenda K. Starr, Shakira and J-Lo, Darlene hopes to present her own positive outlook on life and to help bring a unity among young people and Latinos through her music. If her past ambition and achievements are any indication, then there is plenty of reason to believe that Darlene, will not only reach her musical goals but also will have her name mentioned alongside those Artists that she admires.
