ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Hard Rock

Details:
"...an astounding new sound that can't be compared... reminds one of when music had an attitude but still had a pop sensibility."
-Call It Five e-zine

Enamel, a self described "alternative post-rock trio" from central Illinois, sifts through the wreckage of rock, thrash, punk and 80's funk, then weld the shiny pieces together in a new sculpture of sound. Their songs are dynamic and ear catching...and proof that rock does not have to be brainless to kick butt.

The Sound
Enamel's signature sound employs creative guitar riffs, active bass lines and unconventional percussion rhythms. Songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Kevin Wasmer uses his formal education in music theory combined with roots as both a classical and heavy metal guitarist to layer engaging lyrics and vocal melodies on top of fresh, grabbing rhythms.

Bassist Micah Hattaway thickens Enamel's sound by using his five-string bass counterpoint paired with a dose of ear-twisting special effects. Chad Sibert's experience drumming in rock, blues, emo, and speed metal bands - along with his hybrid digital/acoustic drum setup - ensure that no Enamel song sounds like the last.

The Songs
Armed with this arsenal of musical ammunition, Enamel takes the audience on a joyride of styles. From the haunting acoustic waltz of "Fly in the Amber," to the thrash-techno mayhem of "Serial Doofis," they chronicle the full dynamic of human emotion often lost by the recent surge of angst metal, recycled punk, and radio hungry power pop. Lyrically, Enamel's songs often sketch visceral portraits of personal change and self-exploration.

The Band
The boys in Enamel came together in early 2001 through a maze of Internet ads and music store posters. After breaking free of bands Nathan Jr., Laughingboy, No Outlet and Dead Blues Society, Micah, Kevin and Chad were drawn together by a shared desire to break into new sonic territory. By their fourth show, they were chosen from hundreds of bands to play the Chicago stop of the Vans Warped tour in July of 2001, which included 311, Rancid and The Misfits. Along with their current shows throughout Illinois, they have also made live appearances on network television and radio. Just released in December 2001, their first LP "Cleaner than Ever" (produced and recorded by the band and released on Illin' Noise Recordings) promises to be the tool to take Enamel to the next level.
