These tunes are familiar, catchy and fun. They teach children to count by 2's, 3's, 4's, ... all the way to 12's. Throw away the number charts and flashcards because this is a tool they can take into a test. You remember what you sing!

11 MP3 Songs in this album (20:08) !

Details:
Hi, I'm Marnie Jenican creator of Multiplication by Heart. Multiplication by Heart was created after my first year teaching the fifth grade in 1989. I ended the year frustrated that my fifth graders (who should have learned their times tables years before) still did not know all their facts. I tried all the products on the market and found that there was nothing out there that really worked. That year during summer school Multiplication by Heart was born. Children are required to count by 2âs, 5âs, 10âs, so I created these skip-counting songs so that they can learn to count by 3âs, 4âs, 6âs, 7âs, 8âs, 9âs, 11's and even 12âs! I have used these songs every year since that first summer and I am happy to say that the results have been outstanding. Multiplication by Heart has been used with gifted, average, and struggling students from grades 2-6. Throughout the years I have had many parents and colleagues use my product with great success. If you are a parent or a teacher, I hope you will try Multiplication by Heart. I know you wonât be disappointed!

Grades K-1
All students are expected to count by 2's, 5's, and 10's by the end of first grade.

Grades 2-6
All students need to learn all their Times Tables because multiplication is the foundation for most of the math concepts that follow.

I taught my own children these songs before third grade! We never spent one night with flash cards, number lines, 100's charts, or tears!

Why is this product superior?

I tried all the products on the market and found that there was nothing out there that guaranteed that all my students would learn all their facts. There are other products that offer the multiplication facts to music but they usually have a "story" or the lyrics are "1X1=1, 1X2=2" etc. They did not work. Skip-counting is learning to count by 2's, 3's, 7's, 12's etc. Skip counting put to music seems to be the perfect combination for maximum retention. You remember what you sing!

Teachers:

I start Multiplication by Heart a couple of weeks before starting the multiplication chapter in the book. I set aside 15-20 minutes each day to teach 1 song (excluding 2's, 5's, 10's, and 11's because they usually know these). I give them the song to learn as homework and test them the next day. This should take about 7 days (reviewing the songs they have already learned constantly). Once they know all the songs, you can use skip-counting for
multiplication, division, fractions, and more!
This will save you many frustrating The Back-Up Singers
lessons.

Parents:

You can give your child one song to learn at a time or have them listen to the CD until they master all of them. Many parents prefer to put the songs on an ipod, some like to give their child the CD, while still others like to put it on in the car so the whole family can learn. It is important when they are first learning to have them listen to the songs, look at the fact sheets, and count on their fingers to really lock the songs into their memory. (Don't worry about them counting on their fingers, they won't do this forever.)

*This works beautifully with "Touch Math".

Brain research shows:

Music helps you remember.
These skip-counting songs are put to "catchy" and "familiar" tunes for maximum retention.

Your brain learns in color.
I've included fact sheets for the children in color.

Integrating the three main learning styles aides retention.
(Look)Visual - The children look at the fact sheets.
(Listen)Auditory - The children listen to the music.
(Do)Kinesthetic - The children count on their fingers while they are learning.

Tips for Multiplication: 3X7=? Skip count the larger number to do the problem faster. Sing your seven song three times - (7...14...21) 3X7=21.

Tips for Division: 48/12=? Skip count, on their fingers, the divisor (12) until they get as close to the dividend (48) as possible without going over - (12...24...36...48) they should have four fingers up - 48/12=4.

Tips for fractions: Skip counting can help students with equivalent fractions. 3/12 - Skip count 3's for the numerator and 12's for the denominator - 3/12, 6/24, 9/36, 12/48, 15/60, 18/72.

Marnie,

My son learned his 4's in one night!

Julie Miller (Fairmont Elementary)

Dear Mrs. Jenican,

Hello, Thank you for helping me with multiplication. I hope I can be a teacher when I grow up.

Your friend,

Valerie

Dear Marnie,

Thank you soo much for making those songs for me and for helping me learn my times tables. They are a lot easier for me now. Once again thank you sooo much. I owe you big time. You are awesome.

Love,

Leigha Harrington (Bryant Ranch Elementary)

Dear Mrs. Jenican,

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, even though you put me in detention, I still respect you. Thanks for teaching me to multiply.

Aaron

Dear Mrs. Jenican,

I still use your multiplication songs today. I was in your fifth grade class in 1991.

Thanks,

Nicole

Dear Marnie,

Thank you for the songs that teach multiplication. Because Tyler was in the seventh grade I was worried that he wouldn't listen to the songs so I put them on in the car and told him that they were for his little brother! It worked like a charm.

Thanks again,

Vikki

Dear Mrs. Jenican,

I know my math facts now. I passed my timed test. Thank you. My mom says thank you too.

Sara

Oh wow Mrs. J!

To this day I can't figure out my multiplication numbers without singing the songs in my head. Also the first 10 Presidents with Mr. Van Burning. Thanks for the great lessons!

Szu-Hua Wang (Tynes Elementary)

Hi Marnie,

Oh my gosh, Danielle is going to be a senior in High School and she still remembers those songs! What a great tool for kids.

Misty Dymond (Fairmont Elementary)

Mrs. Jenican,

You were my 5th grade teacher way back in 1993...I doubt you remember it was so long ago but you were one of my favorite teachers growing up :).....you were even cool enough to come to my roller skating birthday party and actually put on skates and get in the rink with us!!....we really do need good teachers now more than ever and it's great to know that we still have you :)

Neha

Finally! A fundraiser that is educational! I don't want any more wrapping paper.

Monique Phillips (Fern Drive Elementary)

Dear Marnie,

My son loves the CD. He learned his facts quickly because they are set to music.

Tammy Reindl (Bryant Ranch Elementary)

Dear Marnie,

I love the multiplication songs. I just purchased the CD and my eight year old daughter loves it. My friend and her family are leaving tomorrow to live in France for four months and she mentioned that her eight year old daughter needed work on her multiplication tables. I recommended Math by Heart because I am so pleased with it.

Joy Randel

Hi Marnie,

I received the CD on Thursday. My children are absolutely loving it!

Thank you,

Rowena Jacobe

Marnie,

All 3 of my daughters age 3, 6, and 8 loved listening to the CD. Although my 8 year old struggled in the beginning of the year, I attribute her success on her math mastery tests to listening and singing along with the CD. Now my younger girls will have a head start!

Thanks,

Andrea Richey

Dear Mrs. Jenican,

Thank you very much for donating the "Multiplication by Heart" CD. Recently I had been asking teachers for suggestions on helping my students learn their multiplication tables. Everyone directed me towards your CD and I was very touched when you donated one for the Special Education classroom. As a first year RSP teacher, I am excited to start using the CD and introduce the students to a fun alternative way to learning math.

Thank you,

Miss Yu
