Led by songwriter and community college English professor Alex Sterling, Desoto Reds is âcerebral popâ: melodic 60s-anglophile-indie, songwriterly and literate, with sweet vocals, a tambourine track on every song, a cover of David Bowieâs âKooks,â a would be/should be hit written for the age of Obama (âDr. Oâ), and Alexâs obsession with Tommy making this release more sparse and vocal-driven than their previously quirky organ-and-Moog sound.
