An album with no age that you can listen too smootly.
On October 18 of 1999, 'Verglas et Soleil' , Geneviève Neuville's first C.D. release, was lauched in Montreal at Cabaret St-Sulpice on St-Denis Street.
The record from the 26 year-old-artist received a warm, enthusiastic response . Some of the songs it includes had been already been broadcast several times on Radio-Canada, the French Canadian National radio,from Montreal, Quebec, Manitoba and Toronto. The artist also has been interviewed a few times on C.I.S.M, KCRH (California) and on Radio-Canada from Manitoba. The two firts singles "L'huitre et le Crabe" and "Le grand periple Blanc" have been number one on Mp3.com.web site.
Geneviève was raised in Frelighsburg, in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. She studied music at St-Laurent College and graduated with Honours from a Jazz program at University. She was a studen of, among others, Jerry Brown, Art Roberts, Luc Beaugrand, Dave Turner, Charles Ellison and Joe Sullivan.
She also has been a soloist and member of the Montreal People's Gospel Choir and of "Ntemo" a congolese gospel choir of Paris. Geneviève sang with other performing artists such as Jann Arden. Bruno Pelletier, Dan Bigras and Manon Brunet.
Since 1994, Geneviève has been pursuing her musical career singing in cabarets in Montreal and Paris. Her own lyricist and composer, Geneviève now 2006 has more that 40 songs in her repertoire. She performs her songs while accompanying herself on the piano with an easy, soft and jazzy touch. Indeed, this first popular release from Geneviève is jazz-tinted, with texts of a strong imagery, and a twist of musical colours from her region.
The recording and mixing of the album took place at Star Studios in Montreal with the good care of Michael Neron. It was mastered by Jean-Francois Chicoine at S.N.B.'s studios. For this production Geneviève got the help of talented musicians : Stephane Crete on bass and musical direction, Denis Boulanger on B-3 organ, Danny Mullowney on drums , Stephane Cote on saxophones, Patrick Graham on percussion and Jean-Francois Daignault as backvocalist.
Genevieve is also the lead singner of www.Tocca.info a great Jazz trio.
