Griot is a unique artist who fuses various generes of music together to make one hiphop sound. Griot grew up in a family of musicians and was influenced by many different types of music and has used those influences to create his own style. Griot raps, produces, and sings his own hooks. His smooth syncapated flow draws listeners into his message of racial justice, christianity, and urban developement. His ability to make tracks mixed with funk, soul, and classical overtones is his trademark as a producer. Griot, was born and raised on the east side of Pittsburgh in a place called Homewood. It is here where he would live the experiences that would inspire him to write songs about poverty, pain, death, joy, hope and deliverance. His goal as an artist is to use his music to reverse the pattern of violence and self-destruction in urban communities.
