Paintbox is a pop trio from Halmstad, Sweden. The group is currently releasing their new album The Night that is the follow up of their debut album Bright Gold and Red, released 2008.
Paintbox has been a band since 2006. What first started off as an innocent and spontaneous recording project soon became a unity.
Paintbox second album The Night is a record with eleven individually great songs that together makes an impressive whole. The music on The Night is more cello and keyboard based in difference from Bright Gold and Red . The tone of the album is overall a bit darker and more serious. The songs has taken a big step from the singer-songwriter inspired sound of the last record to make place for a more uptempo vibe.
Paintbox music has been given titles such as "movie-pop" and "dream-pop". It seems as though the band´s music makes people associate with visual impressions.
The time between the two records has Paintbox spent touring in Europe and playing occasional gigs in Sweden. A larger audience was reached when they played as the opening act for Roxette last year.
With The Night Paintbox is going to brake new ground as one of Sweden´s most interesting indie pop acts of 2011.
