Artemise formed Vintage Trio a decade ago when she discovered that by adding violin parts I and II there was enlarged dimension of musical and lyrical interpretation. She chooses repertoire (mostly) from the first half of the 20th century. Many of the composer/lyricists are household names: Ira and George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers, Hart, Hammerstein, Kern, and Charlie Chaplin. Add to these a couple of French âGreatsâ: CharlesTrenet, and Edith Piaf. With a view toward the stand-alone jewel, Artemise carefully crafts a program of songs that vary in tempo. style, and mood. She is pleased to discover the many present day singers who are reinterpreting these songs. This is because these fine songs will never wear out. They are firmly lodged in our musical heritage.
