Details:
CRAIG MORRIS literally âcomes from Alabama with a banjo on his kneeâ.
Since the 1970s, Craig and his driving five-string banjo have been regulars on the bluegrass scene in the southeastern United States.
Prior to making the switch to the "five string merry-wang" during his senior year of high school, Craig played electric guitar, cutting his musical teeth on the music of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Credence Clearwater Revival, and other monsters of '60s rock.
Then... along came that first Flatt and Scruggs LP from the $1 record rack at the dime store. The rest is banjo history!
Shortly after taking up the banjo, Craig was offered a position in the band on the Country Boy Eddie TV Show, a live early morning television program in Birmingham, Alabama. Between 1976 - 1984, during his eight years as a member of the Country Boy Eddie band, Craig chalked up thousands of television appearances and other public performances in Alabama and adjacent states.
In 1981, when a bluegrass band was requested for a grand opening celebration in Birmingham, the band which was soon to become known as Lickety Split was formed.
A year later, Craig accepted an offer to join the popular Warrior River Boys and traveled the country performing traditional bluegrass music. Craig was able to maintain a very hectic musical schedule, performing with all three bands for several years.
With over thirty years experience, the move to Nashville took place in 2000. Since then, Craig has performed with a variety of bands in the Nashville area while keeping Lickety Split alive, and he prides himself on being a team player, making sure he works with, adapts to, and tastefully enhances the overall band sound.
