Details:
One of Jere's first memories is of Ricky Nelson singing at the end of an Ozzie & Harriet rerun. Impressed by how much fun playing music looked, Jere began begging his parents for a guitar ... only taking time out to eat and sleep... Several years later, he was given a Hi-Lo 6-string guitar from Federal's Department Store. He's been practicing music ever since... only taking time out to eat and sleep...

His ten years at Public Radio exposed him to songs and music from all over the world, and he in turn, passed along his musical discoveries to listeners as a program host.

Now Jere is mostly known for his songs: topical, if not tropical; humorous, if not peculiar. His musical style-scrambling is prime evidence that he spent a little too much time in school. But while at college Jere won a few literary awards for his poems - then he began to blend his music and poetry.

Have you ever heard a singer "channel" bluegrass from another dimension or perform classic "dinosaur grass" by Red Zeppelin and the Misty Mountain Boys and The Moody Bluegrass Boys? How about a Sex Pistols song played on a mountain dulcimer?

If those kind of musical juxtapositions intrigue you, you're sure to enjoy Jere Stormer: He's a singer/songwriter/guitarist who's deeply rooted in American music --- Folk, Blues and Jazz -- but at the same time reaches to extend these traditions. A longtime musician in southeastern Michigan, Jere is well regarded by people who appreciate music that is wildly eclectic, fiercely played, and can occasionally make you laugh out loud.

While Jere's music can "speak for itself," sometimes just the song titles can give you an idea of what his music's about: AFTER THE FUTURE - The concept was inspired by Sun Ra, while its rural blues form owes a nod to Son House. TELEPATHIC is an audience participation song which goes way beyond a sing-a-long. . . It's a think-a-long -- A hootenanny-of-the-mind (this ain't no kum-bye-ya). While the bone chilling ROYAL OAK P.O. may leave you down, Jere's fang-in-cheek look at living forever as a vampire, VLAD THE IMPALER, is sure to bemuse. For every issue-oriented song like MIDDLE CLASS OUTRAGE, there's an outrageously funny song like STAN GETZ AL HIRT (About a jazz band that likes to wrestle).
