Details:
"At age 23 she is a qualified luthier in the construction of Harps, guitars and other stringed instruments, Linda Coogan is not only a talented singer/songwriter. This multi instrumentalist (guitar, harmonica, mandolin, bouzouki, and bodhran) is set to release her debut solo album âholding backâ in November but there is no holding back for this lady .

Having appeared in GCNâs 200th Special Edition Magazine as one of their top 12 Irish artists, proving that she exerts her own place amongst her peers. And having played at Irelands first ever Relay for life concert in October alongside Kila, The Pale, Mundy and many others, this truly means her career is taking off to a great start. Lindaâs raw smoky vocals have been compared to the likes of âTori Amos meets Jewelâ. Whilst maintaining her unique originality.

The unique sounding debut album was recorded in the true folk fashion of less than a week, and contains 13 tracks. Recorded all independently and self produced. The album certainly has the essence of maturity.
âI try to summon up emotion in the music whist maintaining melody and a touch of sensuality in the vocals. Folk music is sang from the heart, which is how a lot of my music is performed, but I wouldnât squeeze it into any category. There is a touch of jazz and blues there too along with rockâ. Says Linda when asked what the album sounds like.

The music tends to move from genre to genre as each songs unfolds. It couldnât be put in one category, and why if you can jump in between them all. She may be a new arrival but well worth the listen."

"Meath singer songwriter Linda Coogan has the edge. On the plaintive 'Holiday blues' she brings echoes of Tanya Tikaram and Tracy Chapman, and adds her own sultry tones to a song about holiday romance. 'where I belong' ups the tempo, her voice taking on a sensual whispery tone that will appeal to your repeat button. 'Black Eyes' moves into a folk-rock territory, with that breathy voice again delivering tons of passion and sensuality. Coogan will find it hard out there in a world where making records is as commonplace, and often as mundane, as riding a bicycle, but she has a head start with her beguiling style and classy songs."
Jackie Hayden- Linda Coogan pick of the fortnight Hotpress magazine.

"Singers twice her age would be envious of the smouldering, very sexy voice that Linda possesses. If the right ears get to hear what she has to offer, then who knows what heights she could achieve. Do your ears and senses a favour, check out "Holding Back"..................Roddie Cleere, WLRfm
