FINE AND MELLOW - CD RELEASE FOR JAZZ SINGER LIZZIE SCOTT & 80 YEAR OLD SAXOPHONIST LEGEND LEW HOOPER.

When jazz drummer Dennis Smith discovered that Lew Hooper had never released a CD, despite playing the UK scene for over 60 years, he set about to remedy the situation.

They decided that their favourite singer Lizzie Scott would compliment Lewâs sax style perfectly.

Two of Londonâs finest jazz musicians; pianist John China and bassist Murray Salmon, joined them to record 13 classic jazz tracks at the famous Tin Pan Alley Studios on Denmark Street.

This recording was captured in one session; the empathy between Lizzie & Lew was natural and immediate on the first take! The result is âFine and Mellowâ - reminiscent of Billie Holiday & Lester Young, these fine musicians have brought alive the music of the great jazz era.

âLizzie Scott has the kind of style jazz musicians love - direct and nicely phrased, with no showy tricks. Lizzie shares the limelight with Lew Hooper, unsung hero of British jazz. This whole CD was made in one session â by one good singer and four good musicians working together⦠exactly the right ingredients for a perfect session.â

- Dave Gelly, MBE, jazz critic of The Observer
