Marcus Collins and Mike Muse (who runs the satellite office in New York) decided to launch an independent record label after obtaining engineering degrees from the University of Michigan, pushing forward their belief that music has a strong voice in our society.

âOur goal isnât to follow whatâs hot right now, instead, we aspire to set our own trends,â says Collins, who produced and co-wrote Marcâs Project. âWeâre musicians first, and we care about preserving this art form. Weâre all about making authentic music that is relevant to todayâs listeners.

Marcâs Project features dynamic, classically trained vocalists who cross the genre boundaries of R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Gospel while delivering with soul, style and sincerity. The album has so far received reviews such as ââ¬Ë...a complete album; a no-skipperâ and ââ¬Ëgreat lyrics sung with emotion, assisted by wonderful instrumentationâ.

ââ¬ËMarcâs Projectâ has shared stages with some of todayâs top national artists, such as Keysha Cole, B5, Jagged Edge, and Lil Mo, in the Rhythm n Rims Tour presented by Sprite. ââ¬ËMarcâs Projectâ also stole the stage at The Daimler-Chrysler Arts, Beats & Eats, Michiganâs largest four-day festival with over a million guests, introducing metro-Detroit residents to talented artists and musicians around the country.

With a buzz spreading like wildfire, the success of ââ¬ËMarcâs Projectâ has only just begun. Collins, head of production for the label, was chosen winner by celebrity judges including producer-turned American Idol personality Randy Jackson and contemporary jazz act ââ¬ËFourplayâ, amongst 2,000 entries at Yamaha International Music Production Contest, with one of the songs off the album, âYouâll Never Knowâ.

Muse Recordings not only seeks to take artistic risks with its music, but to be socially conscious as well. The label has teamed up with Sean âP-Diddyâ Combsâ Citizens of Change initiative, Power Moves Inc., and international Grammy-winning recording artist Nelly during UofMâs homecoming weekend to encourage students and alumni to vote.
