Details:
Tom Mowrey's songs take his listeners on a visionary's journey. Fingerstyle guitar lends itself to creating a complex blend of sounds with a decidedly folkloric feel. A mix of flight and fantasy, Mowrey's instrumental pieces form a story that you cannot help but follow.

"Destiny of a Pilgrim", Mowrey's debut CD, is a foray onto the edge of his unbridled creativity and insight.

Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "Destiny of a Pilgrim" combines a diverse troupe of musicians and uncommon instruments to achieve a gentle flow from one song to the next, coaxing the listener to take part of a wide range of emotions, from the sweet nostalgia of "At Rest" to the triumphant "Great Feast".

Citing Phil Keaggy as one of his main personal and professional inspirations, Mowrey refers to him as "one of the most humble and gifted guitar players". Mowrey explains that his own instrumental style is not unlike that of an artist painting on a blank canvas.

"I try to think like an artist would," he said, "I really want to let people know that there is a God and He really does love them. That's where my inspiration comes from and I hope people can hear some of that in my music. Sometimes you can say more without words."

Having performed in a variety of venues, including theaters, festivals, art galleries, coffeehouses and restaurants, Mowrey's diversity appeals to a wide variety of listeners. A native of Sykesville, Pennsylvania, Mowrey has traveled throughout the region to share his music with his colleagues and fans.

Mowrey's talent landed him one of two scholarships for a fingerstyle guitar workshop held at Pittsburgh's Duquesne University in July 2001. The
week-long program was sponsored by Fender Musical Instruments to foster promising musicians.
