Details:
Morning Star is the planet Venus, as well as a beautiful reel found in O'Neill's Music of Ireland. Consort is defined as a companion or partner, to be in accord, to unite in company or to give ones loyalty.

Morning Star Consort is an ensemble of accomplished musicians who select from a diverse body of music, reaching as far back as 950AD and spanning up to the present day, while exploring various musical time periods and styles, the group adds its own artistry and improvisation which truly brings the music to life. Their inspired and soulful playing touches a myriad of emotions in the listener and has been described as riveting and romantic. There is something even deeper that happens when Morning Star Consort performs. No words can describe it, it just has to be experienced.

Sharon Hall fell in love with the violin as a small child. Her first experiences were with classical and church music. Rooted in these traditions, her adventurous spirit and eclectic taste have taken her on a journey through a wide array of musical genres. This versatility, as well as her creativity as a composer of exquisite harmonies have earned her the highest praise from fellow musicians and audiences a like.

Jeff Esko came into Sharon's musical world in 1997. His command of the lute, viola da gamba, flute, recorders and guitar combined with his passion for playing captured her attention. Jeff's musical background steeped in Early and Renaissance traditions as well as modern musical forms compliment Sharon's musical ideas. Jeff has a vibrancy, sensitivity and prowess in his playing. Sharon and Jeff speak the same musical language, sharing the same passion and commitment to music, connecting in a bond of musical enlightenment, together achieving a musical level which is individually incapable. Morning Star Consort was formed in 1998.

John Grahor joined the group in 1999. John plays upright string bass and eclectic five string fretless bass on our recordings. John has taken a leave from Morning Star Consort due to his work and travel schedules.

Matt Lewis on upright bass, electric bass and classical guitar joined the group in the summer of 2003. Matt has recorded with the consort and has been our back up bassist for several years.

Dave Hines joined the group as percussionist in 2001. He has a love of music and a natural sense of timing. He is self taught, influenced by Cuban and Latin artist as well as Celtic sounds. Dave contributes an interesting and unique twist to the different styles of music played by Morning Star Consort.

Matt Cook joined the ensemble in 2003. Matt plays Uilleann pipes, Irish flute, pennywhistles and low whistle.

Simpatico also features several of our friends.
