Mooli are Clea Llewellyn on vocals and guitars, and synth player/producer Ben Copland.

Clea and Ben started working together at the end of 2003, after Ben heard Clea plays acoustic sets in Maidstone Kent, and at Chatham's Tap 'n' Tin.

At this point, Ben was signed to Global talent/Sony ATV as a writer/producer who'd had success in the US with two top ten selling albums, one of which went platinum with over 1.5 million units sold. Heâd written and produced for acts like Aaron Carter, Beverley Knight and Liberty X, but was becoming disillusioned with brief writing for acts that he had no ongoing day to day involvement with. Ben wanted to work on a project that he could get passionate about, and rediscover what made him love music in the first place.

With Clea, he knew that he'd found someone equally passionate about music, who was able to touch her audience with her emotive performances. Listening to Clea sing, you can't help but be moved by her distinctively rich, soulful voice.

Clea had come through the traditional singer/songwriter route of smoky pubs and bars around Kent. Gigging with her guitar at fourteen, busking in Maidstone centre at seventeen and playing countless solo, duo and band gigs have all contributed to her development into an accomplished live performer, sounding equally good on stage as she does on record.

Last year saw Mooli voted as both songwriters of the month on Songquarters, and artist of the week on Hitquarters. While Clea spent the summer on tour as a guest vocalist with Jah Wobble, touring around Europe, the UK and Ireland, Ben focused on developing Mooli's new songs and fine- tuning the production of their limited edition debut ep, âOne Designâ.
