Richie Miletic (Pronounced "mill-itich") at twenty five years old has developed a new sound for an entire world of listeners to embrace, best described, "Chinese Country Music."
After six years of touring the country as a member of the renowned Lowcountry Boil Bluegrass Band, Miletic returned to his birthplace of New York City in early 2006 to record his conceptual album, Outside Scenic, in a live setting with the world's top jazz and Chinese folk intrumentalists.
It may be an unprecedented fusion in music at this point, however New York audiences have buzzed about Miletic's unique melodies and lyrical content after a series of shows at the landmark venue Sidewalk Cafe, where his group the Richie Miletic Revue has performed to standing room only crowds since it's formation in February 2006.
The concept of Chinese folk instruments and Chinese style melodies over basic folk or country progressions is only an accidental discovery by Miletic but a marriage in music that he is determined to see work and brought to listeners around the contemporary music world.
The Album features bass player Eivind Opsvik of Norway and Tien Jou Wang on an ancient Chinese Erhu. Together they bring a human voice-like phrasing to the instrumental portions of Richie's compositions, which capture true stories of modern urban life as well as social commentary derived from his ten year long residency in the southern United States.
