Details:
Mesa Blue was formed in 1995, in San Diego, California, by singer/songwriter/guitarist Chris Del Priore and drummer/percussionist Jeff Stasny, both formally with the San Diego band, Ryebabies. Shortly after, bassist/guitarist/arranger Omar Ramirez, who has performed with Nathan East and Gunnar Biggs, was added. The band began playing their acoustic blend of jazz, rock, and pop for the San Diego coffeehouse scene. Recording of their first CD, "Once During A Blue Moon", started in 1996. This first self-released CD completed in 1997, and the band continued the San Diego coffeehouse tour. They progressively added more diversity and cover tunes and expanded their talents to other local venues. In 1999, the band completed their second self-released CD "Cactus Jazz". Cactus Jazz added more of a pop/jazz sound, and a couple of songs received local radio play on Sets 102.1. The band started work on their third CD, "Looking Down The Road", in 2002, and plan to release this CD in Spring of 2004. Early reviews have indicated that this new CD will feature the bands best songwriting yet. Stay tuned for song samples on our Mesa Blue website (www.mesablue.com).
