A mixture of folk, christian and country. Instruments used: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, banjo, autoharp (one song...sounds cool.), mandolin, drums. Three part harmonies give a slightly old timey feel to the songs.
10 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Gentle, COUNTRY: Country Folk
Details:
Melissa Bent has been singing since she was a child. She has a very strong voice and the joke is that during sound checks, the levels have to be changed drastically once she's "warmed up." Melissa began playing guitar over 11 years ago and leads worship at her church, Calvary Chapel Boise.
This album began as a whim. Melissa wasn't sure she would ever have the money to complete an album that would be worth listening to. Then a kindly member of Melissa's congregation offered the startup cash to begin work on the CD.
Five years later, Melissa graduated college with a BS in Mathematics and a finished CD in hand. Jesus Be the Center, named for a track on the album that Melissa says, "embodies what I feel this CD is about," was released in June 2005.
