Marcelo Maia has dedicated many years to the study and performance of
instrumental music. Although born and raised in Brazil, his musical quest started in
Hamburg, germany. There he had the opportunity to study and play different styles of instrumental music with some of the best names in professional music. His musical career eventually lead him to Morrocco where he immersed himself in the traditional rhythms of Africa. He infused his Brazilian and African influences into Jazz and with the help from some of the finest Brazilian musicians, his masterpiece, "Cafundo 2" was born.
