Indie rock with minor scale melodies and organic percussion
10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 70's Rock, POP: Beatles-pop
Details:
Malassis started as a side project of young multi-instrumentalist Itai Asseoâs
while he was the frontman for the band Emok. During his years with the former indie/metal band, he had worked with world class producers such as Ron St. Germaine, toured the US and Japan with bands like the Dillinger Escape Plan, and was featured in numerous magazines. In July 2005, Itai decided to step away from the metal world and focus more on his own songwriting & compositions,
and thus procured his solo career as Malassis.
In his self-titled EP which was recorded in his Brooklyn apartment, Itai explores
the ups and downs of his post-Emok era and experiments with a variety of melodic and rhythmic instrumentations. The songs are replete with whims of melancholy, and accented with aggressive & dynamic beats. The vocals reflect a flattering influence of Perry Farrell (Janeâs Addiction) or Wayne Coyne (Flaming
Lips), and range from minor-key melodies, punk-driven howls, to softer edge ballads and compositions.
