Details:
Unplugged, sheâs a quietly intense presence, with a textured voice and a folksy-bluesy approach to songwriting. But fully wired and backed up by guitars and a drum kit, she rocks." Miche Genest, Yukon News
"Her lyrics are full of freshness and emotion. A springtime energy that leads us right from the first song into the magical universe of Nicole Edwards. This album is her, in all her beauty and simplicity." Marie-Helene Comeau, LâAurore Boreal, Whitehorse
"Nicole Edwards has hit a blistering line drive straight through the centrefield wall with her debut CD "on with my day"!! Soft and seductive, intense and gritty, honest and innocent â Nicole offers radio a collection of songs with the musical hooks, spellbinding vocals, and format cross-overability of Amanda Marshall, Alanis Morisette and Sarah McLachlan⦠in a style all her own⦠FANTASTIC!!!" Keith Ellert, Midday Host CKRW 610am
"Brimming with emotion and featuring a voice that can shift from a suggestive whisper to a soulful wail in a split second, "on with my day" is bursting with songs that draw on Edwardsâ own relationships with family, friends and intimate others." Megan Litster, Almaguin News, Ontario
"The Yukon singer Nicole Edwards gave a very appreciated recital with all of the charm that our Canadian cousins know how to deploy." Cor. M. Renault, La Nouvelle Republique, FRANCE
"On with my day is bursting with strong songwriting, a sultry voice that can make any topic sexy and even two languages, which help catch in song an off-forgotten element of this community." Michael Hale, Whitehorse Star
With the release of her CD on with my day, Nicole Edwards has solidified her reputation as the Yukonâs resident grrl-folk diva. Her normally soft-spoken demeanor vanishes when she hoists her guitar and transmits her own brand of infectious blues-folk-rock, heavy grooves and emotionally charged lyrics. This album earned her a nomination to the West Coast Music Awards where she performed at the gala ceremonies along with Bif Naked and 54 40.
Nicole started singing on Broadway, a dirt road outside the village of South River in the near north of Ontario, Canada, where she grew up. Now most of her songs are created on her homestead in the Hamlet of Mt Lorne in the Yukon Territory.
Dirty Linen magazine calls Nicole an "expressive singer". Fluent in both English and French, she transcends the borders of language and produces a musical gift. Nicole has been seen mesmerizing crowds with just her acoustic guitar, and has had hundreds of people shakinâ on the dance floor during plugged-in sets. In either situation, Nicole gives so much of her shine to her audience.
