Details:
Nathan Hanson is a composer/performer who specializes in improvised music. His primary instruments are the tenor and soprano saxophones. He has performed with Cecil Taylor, Dizzy Gillespie, Mark Dresser, Carei Thomas, Elliot Humberto Kavee, Federico Ughi, among others.

Current projects include a quartet with cello, bass and drumsThe Fantastic Merlins (www.fantasticmerlins.com); a solo recording on Sugarstyles Media entitled "Letting Go"; a duo project "Mercury Retrograde" with drummer/cellist Elliot Humberto Kavee; and continued involvement with Options, a group led by Federico Ughi (their CD "South of Brooklyn" was released in 2003.)

Before moving to NYC in 1998, Nathan was based in Minneapolis/St. Paul where he was heavily involved in the music scene. Most notably, he was a member of Metaphor, Fly Manifesto, Liars Club, The Westside Orchestra, Cork-Leg Nelson, Outline, Kairos, Modern Relics, and the Stan Bann Big Band.
He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1963 and grew up all over the east coast (New York, Maine, Maryland, Florida).
