Details:
Oval Opus resides on the Mason/Dixon line, calling the banks of the Ohio River in Cincinnati, Ohio home. Perhaps this can explain the blend of rootsy Midwestern honesty, southern charm, and northern industrialism evident in their music. But for the past several years, Oval Opus has also called the road home. They are constantly touring to nearly twenty-five markets building an ever growing grassroots fan base with an electrifying live show.

Oval Opus was born on the campus of Miami University in Oxford, OH in 1997. This is where brothers Josh and Dan Edmondson met dynamic singer Aaron Patrick. After testing the waters in coffee shops, frat houses, and dorm rooms, guitarist Josh Edmondson and singer Aaron Patrick traveled the East Coast in the summer of 1997 solidifying the material that would become the bands debut CD, "Wagon Wheel" in 1998. The release of "Wagon Wheel" earned them "Cincinnati's Best New Artist" Award at the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards.

The band released their much anticipated follow up "Oxygen," in 2000. The single, "What About Tomorrow" found airplay on nearly 100 college radio stations around the country. It also earned Oval Opus "Cincinnati's Favorite Band" and "Cincinnati's Best Alternative Band" at the Cincinnati Enquirer Cammy Awards.

In the summer of 2002, the band recorded their third CD "Red Sky Recovery." Tight musicianship from years of live performance combined with confidence and maturity in songwriting made "Red Sky Recovery" the bands' tour de force. "Red Sky Recovery" now has national and international distribution through Red Eye.

In 2004 Oval Opus made several trips to New York to work with the production team Pop Rox (Carole King, Michael Tolcher). In the spirit of Sheryl Crow's "Tuesday Night Music Club" the band embarked on a series of group writing sessions that included the likes of Jill Cunniff (Luscious Jackson), Boots (Tim McGraw), and Danny Kortchmar (James Taylor, Billy Joel). These seasoned writers teamed with the band members and Pop Rox to create the most solid, mature music Oval Opus has yet created. Oval Opus's self titled EP was released in the spring of 2004.

Like their name implies, Oval Opus is on a journey. An Oval is a never ending elliptical shape, and an Opus is a musical work. The band continues to tour, sharing the stage with such acts as Sister Hazel, O.A.R., Edwin McCain, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, Vertical Horizon, Guster, The Calling, The Pat McGee Band, Fastball, and Rusted Root as well as headlining shows to a growing regional fan base. The band also continues their musical journey, honing their sound and songwriting. The journey has only just begun, Oval Opus should be around for quite some time.
