Details:
Bach on a Hook was born in 1990 with violist Marty Matteson (DQE, Sundog Quartet) and drummer Chris Verene (Rock*a*Teens, DQE). Marty started playing the Prelude from J.S. Bach's D Major Cello Suite on a viola with a pickup plugged into an amp and Chris began drumming along. They liked the results and over the next few years started tossing around ideas for recording projects, and in 1993 started laying down tracks.

With the help of Zod (Pillowtexans, Blacktop Rockets) at Demolition Sound and Kelly Noonan at Suite 16 they created enough recordings to make a self-titled indie CD. The second CD, Bach on a Stick, produced with Everett Young, was released by Pearineel in 2000, and featured Benjamin Smoke on the cover (see above).

On the live front, it was in 1997 that Chris and Marty started performing as a band under the sobriquet of Bach on a Hook. After Chris Verene moved to New York and became an internationally famous art photographer, Marty enlisted the help of local Atlanta musicians including Ian Parsons (Butterflies) and the current line-up: Lane Steffler on bass and Adrian Ash on drums.

Bach on a Hook has played the E.A.R.L., WRAS Georgia Music Show, Smith's Olde Bar, the Star Community Bar, the Red Light Cafe, Dotties, as well as private parties. They have also played gigs in New York and Amsterdam.

Bach on a Hook is constantly pushing the envelope on the fusion of newer ideas. A new CD is currently underway in their home studio. The latest technology is enabling Bach on a Hook to integrate brand new material and ideas never before possible.
