Drummer Carl Hupp has recorded a live instrumental jazz/rock/fusion CD at Orion Sound Studios in his home town of Baltimore, Maryland. The CD features mostly material from his debut CD "Hyper Statue" from 2004 with some slightly different arrangements and also a rendition of the classic "Talk To Your Daughter" by J.B. Lenoir which was also covered by blues guitarist Robben Ford. Orion Sound is a renowned recording studio and live showcase venue in the Baltimore area and has featured such acts as: Bruford/Levin Upper Extremities, Tony Levin Band, California Guitar Trio, Trey Gunn Band, Tunnels with Percy Jones, Stanley Whitaker with Happy The Man and many, many more. The Carl Hupp Project features Carl Hupp on drums and percussion, Clyde Johnson on congas and percussion, Dave Fairall on tenor, alto and soprano sax, Kurt Froberg on keyboards, Jeff Avery on guitar, John Aversa on fretless bass, Ivan Smart on trumpet and J.J. Gunning on trombone. The CD was digitally mixed and mastered at Paradigm North Studios in Baltimore by Brad Chatterton. Brad co-wrote some of the material with Carl from "Hyper Statue" and is also an accomplished guitarist and keyboardist. All of the Orion shows are taped with the expectation of making a live CD but Carl says he didn't expect it to come together that fast. "One day Brad and I started listening to the Orion tapes and we decided to mix "Talk To Your Daughter" just for fun. It sounded so good that we just kept on mixing and before you know it, we had 11 tunes done, so I decided to release it as a live CD."
