Soprano Rosa Lamoreaux is known for her flawless sense of style, incandescent presence, âa wonderfully rich timbre and an amazingly flexible voiceâ (Washington Post). She has been hailed for her versatile musicianship, her radiant, engaging, and effortless singing, the diversity of her repertoire, and her many fine recordings. An award-winning vocalist with a busy international career, Ms. Lamoreaux is sought after for her beautifully styled readings of repertoire from Hildegard to Shostakovich.
After winning the Handel Aria Competition at the Aspen Music Festival and an honor as finalist in the Oratorio Society Competition of New York, her career has taken her to Carnegie Hall, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Kennedy Center. She has been soloist with the Atlanta Symphony and the Cincinnati Symphony with Robert Shaw in performances of the B minor Mass of Bach and Mozartâs Mass in C minor. She has won critical acclaim for her performances at Bach festivals in both the United States and Europe. Recent performances include the Shostakovich 14th Symphony with the Northwest Chamber Orchestra, Ralf Gothoni conducting, St. John Passion of Bach at the Washington National Cathedral, Barberâs Knoxville Summer of 1915, and The Magic Flute with Piotr Gajevski and the National Philharmonic Orchestra, an evening of French Cabaret music to highlight the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit at the National Gallery of Art, and concerts in Italy with the Carmel Bach Festival Chamber Musicians.
As a soloist for conductors, Bruno Weil, at the Carmel Bach Festival, Robert Shaw, Atlanta Symphony and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Sir David Willcocks at the Bethlehem Bach Festival, and at the Kennedy Center for Norman Scribner and the Choral arts Society, J. Reilly Lewis and the Cathedral Choral Society and Washington Bach Consort, Stephen Simon and the Washington Chamber orchestra, she has performed the B minor Mass, the Passions of St. John and St. Matthew, Jauchzett Gott and other cantatas of J.S. Bach, Vespers of Monteverdi, the C Minor Mass and Requiem of Mozart, Messiah, Esther, Xerxes, Saul, Ode to St. Cecilia, Israel in Egypt and Judas Maccabeus of Handel, In The Beginning of Copland, Knoxville Summer of 1915 of Samuel Barber, La Demoiselle elue of Debussy , Su le sponde del Tebro of Scarlatti, Missa Sanctae Caeciliae, Paukenmasse and Lord Nelson Mass and other Masses of Haydn and Mozart.
A popular chamber music performer, she has recently been named the Artistic Director of the National Gallery of Art Vocal Ensemble. Ms. Lamoreaux performs with the Folger consort, ArcoVoce, Hesperus, and has toured with Musicians from Marlboro. Her many engagements include performances at the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, Corcoran Gallery, Washington National Cathedral and at the Cloisters and the Chautauqua Institute in New York. In Europe she has appeared at the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, and at the Reingau Music Festival, La Fenice Chamber Music Festival, Scandinavian Music Festival and the Louvre and Belvedere Schloss among other distinguished venues.

Many of Rosa Lamoreauxâs performances have been broadcast on NPR, the BBC and the CBC.
