POP: Today's Top 40, ROCK: Acoustic
Details:
Table for One is a San Mateo, California-based pop-rock quartet that masterfully blends the sounds of the piano, guitar, drums and bass into strong and dynamic melodies, with a sound similar to The Fray, Teddy Geiger, Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer. The band began in early 2005 as a the dynamic duo of lead singer/ songwriter/ guitarist Caleb Blood and his good buddy Dan Ashby. In the humble beginnings of their career, Caleb played sidekick to Dan, backing Dan up on the lead guitar as Dan sang his original songs. As time went on, Caleb found a certain interest in writing songs of his own. Soon, the two were tossing the microphone back and forth as each musician sang the songs that he had written while the other played back-up guitar. As the two began to pick up a small following of fans, they began the search for the perfect musicians to complement their music. A friend recommended a fellow by the name of Matt Wirgler who played bass. Matt just happened to be an incredible bassist. When Dan sat down in his math class on the first day of classes at the local community college, he struck up a conversation with the fellow sitting next to him who just happened to be an absolutely incredible drummer. Coincidence? I think not. While discussing the name for their newly-formed band, Dan remembered a song that he had written as a joke about loneliness that he had creatively titled âTable for One.â The band decided to scrap the song but kept the catchy name based on the phrase that has been uttered by many lonely diners. After a short time with the band Dan found that college was calling his name and he left the band to pursue further education at a four-year university. He left behind a strong presence and a great band name which he graciously allowed the band to continue using. After Danâs departure, the band decided to utilize the talents of Nick Carlozzi, an talented classical pianist whom Caleb had performed with on a few occasions. Nickâs piano playing brought a new dimension to the already rich sound of Table for One. Today, Table for One has played numerous shows and has a five-track EP entitled âBetter View,â and an extremely radio-friendly 14-track LP entitled âYou are Here.â
