At age thirty-one, Romi Mayes is being recognized for her raw, driven sound with honest edgy songs and an Americana bluegrass guitar style. Mayesâ songs exhibit a great storyteller who has seen the tough road. Her warm and gritty vocals sift through all the bull and hit straight home.

Quoted as being one of the hardest working musicians in Canada, in the last year Mayes performed over 200 gigs including Winnipeg Folk Festival, Calgary Folk Festival, South Country Fair, Northern Lights Boreal, Hillside, Folk Alliance 2005, NXNE 2005, OCFF 2005, and SXSW 2006 â all in promotion of her 2005 WCMA nominated release "The Living Room Sessionsâ.

Mayes is also known for the company she keeps. Members of Corb Lund Band, The Duhks, D.Rangers, and Fred Eaglesmith Band back her up at concerts and on her recordings. She has shared the stage with acclaimed artists including Ricky Skaggs, Iris Dement, Hayes Carll, Bo Ramsey, Pieta Brown, Lynn Miles, Dave Alvin, and Martha Wainwright.

Mayes is a force to be reckoned with. She releases 'Sweet Somethin Steady' summer 2006 produced by Texan heavy hitter Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Mary Gauthier) and will be further touring North America in support of the new album.
