Sexy, Eclectic, Musical Art Storytelling. Combining elements of jazz, world, folk, blues and electronic with unique and sometimes satirical vocals.

8 MP3 Songs
POP: Quirky, FOLK: Power-folk

Details:
The Ronley is quite a peculiar creature. She descends from a rare tribe of sexy eclectic musical storytellers. Ronley's music combines unique sometimes-satirical vocals and witty lyrics within a "syncretic" mish mash of musical styles crossing: Roots, Blues, World, Rock and Electronic. Her music as of late has been compared to artists including Tom Waits, Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Ute Lemper, Lhasa, Macy Gray with the garnish of the girlishness of Ricky Lee Jones.

The Band:
Ronley performs as a solo artist, duo, trio, quartet, and quintet. Every show is different. Whether solo or band, the music ranges from grassroots to fractions of world and jazz improvisation

Ronley was born in South Africa, and grew up in Toronto, Canada. She has performed in folk, electronic and pop-rock bands She has traveled and toured extensively throughout parts of the Middle East, New England, California, Canada and in the fall parts of Europe. She sings in English and in Hebrew. These influences alongside her uniquely Ronley dish of singing and songwriting based on literatures use of a Character's "Point of View" take charge as storytellers.

Welcome to Cornered In The Alley.
So, if we were to get all analytical on this album, what would be the common thread that holds it together? The reocurring antagonist the not so illusive "Love". A word which conjures up so many scenarios. This album in essence is just songs about different aspects of love - for example: love & desire, the yearning for one love, a touch of cultural love, mixed with the nasty sides of love, finding love in oneself, love found for some in faith and community, being chicken to fall in love again; and the final blow one has before Love ends and then starts all over again. Every part of love has a voice - be it pretty, ugly, childlike, or dirty. A tale of eight songs that worked together to make up this story. For every mood has a voice, every character has a song - when they are cornered in the alley.

...fingerpicked guitar backed by violin, trumpet, piano, she cranks out a groove reminiscent of Stevie Nicks during her "Not Fragile" period, and injects a musical surprise by adding an Irish reel as instrumental counterpoint. This artist is clearly not afraid to take chances when mixing disparate styles...
