Life is not a destination â itâs a journey, filled with blissful highs, deep, dark lows, and every emotion in between. Ohio singer/songwriter Ryan Holliday captures this reality in a raw, honest take on life, to which we can all relate, with his long-awaited debut EP entitled âTrain.â

âAs Iâve traveled the country over the last four years, Iâve met all types of people in all different phases of life. The one thing Iâve found we all have in common is that nobody is perfect â we all deal with ups and downs. We can either shut down or rise up and embrace this reality. Those that rise up are better able to find and accept true hope and grace. Thatâs the message I want to leave with listeners on this album.â

âWe (Holliday and co-writer/producer Jake Rye (Newsboys)) intentionally kept the songs from being over-produced. There is enough out there that sounds too sterile and computer-perfect. We wanted to keep it real and organic, and give listeners the feeling of sitting in a room listening to a live show.â

Hollidayâs first track, âNever Satisfied,â uses the illustration of an over-working, often-absent father. The picture is painted of one who strives to find purpose in places, people, and things in which purpose can never be found.

âRedemptionâ talks about the hope available to us in spite of the burdens we all carry. By turning away from our own shortcomings, and fleeing to the Light, we can find real, lasting love and grace.

âLet it Goâ is a catchy and emphatic call to embrace significance. Inspired by Hollidayâs experiences as a high school cross country coach, this song is an encouragement to strive forward by casting aside the fear and doubts that hinder.

Holliday emboldens listeners to stand their ground, putting a fresh, dynamic spin on Mat Kearneyâs song, âWonât Back Down.â Hollidayâs rendition has become a crowd-favorite at his shows over the last four years.

The title track for the album, âTrain,â is a moving and honest confession that effectively summarizes the heart of this record. Holliday acknowledges that it sounds attractive to erase the past, start over, and skip any downfalls that may come. However, it is failure that, coupled with triumph, produces character and perseverance. Pulsing piano and rich, sweeping cello and violin help drive this message home.

âThe song âTrainâ is really at the core of this album,â Holliday stresses. âMy wish is that listeners connect with all of the songs, but âTrainâ is one that I truly hope sticks. I feel like every person, no matter who they are, can relate in some way or another to this song.â
