Rachelle grew up in the 80's and was heavily influenced by the pop sounds of Michael Jackson and the emerging MTV music culture. Aside from involvement with school choirs and a couple of piano lessons at the age of 7, Rachelle grew up with no formal training in music. There were many attempts to learn to read the notes and chords for the piano, but with such a short attention span she preferred to just listen and play her own version of the song.
It was not until the age of 28 that Rachelle would seriously consider that she may have the talent to write and perform music. At that time, she was a young mother of two dealing with serious depression and marital problems. In an honest attempt to receive direction from God regarding the direction her life needed to take, she distinctly remembers the impression that her gift in music would pull her up and out of the dark hole that was forming in her life. The answer seemed like a stretch for Rachelle because no one in her life to up that point had heard her sing or knew she could write music. She had become so isolated that even her husband was surprised at the events that began to develop.
Rachelle took out a credit card and paid a producer to help her create three original tracks. Within days of CD being completed, she was linked (by her Schwan's guy) to the president of the Denver Chapter of Christian Songwriters for the Gospel Music Association. Rachelle ended up joining this group and was encouraged to submit a song for a contest that would pay one person's scholarship and travel to the "Gospel in the Rockies" yearly event in Colorado.
Rachelle was completely new to the Christian music scene, but could relate to how similar it was to the pop-rock genre that she was raised with. She ended up winning and spent a week saturated in the Christian music movement. During that event her burden and confusion seemed to lift. Rachelle was convinced that her experience with Christian music would eventually bring wholeness and joy into her life and into the lives of her family because of its focus on hope, faith and most importantly, God.
Rachelle has been writing Christian music now for 7 years and has released numerous projects, many of them created from her own search for answers to the questions we all face in times of trial and difficulty. Rachelle sings occasionally, but her passion is combining her talent for creating and writing music with the vocal talents of the many amazing singers she has come in contact with over the years.
Rachelle currently lives in Lehi, Utah, with her husband of 15 years and their three daughters. In addition to writing and producing music, Rachelle enjoys teaching about recovery from addiction and emotional pain and is a popular speaker in her community.
