Grimus began circa 2007 with the intention to play aggressive, heavy and angry music. With influences encompassing the entire metal spectrum and then some, they play modern death metal taking notes from revered greats of the death metal styling. After enduring a few essential changes in their lineup, the band has become an unstoppable force and throughout the years have been harvesting a following in their local scene. Their lyrics display the ugliness of the world sometimes using sarcastic overtones.

Their debut EP, The Progress In Elimination, showcases the band's raw, yet melodic, and at times hardcore-influenced roots. Taking pages from Gothenburg-style melodic death metal and the American metalcore scene, here Grimus deliver their own, crushing brand of heaviness to New Jersey. The album is full of thrashing, gravity blasts, ominous leads and breakdowns. These six songs were the beginning of Grimus.
