Van Frazier was born into a musical family in Hampton County, South Carolina. His paternal grandfather was a singer and guitarist, and his father was a gifted lead jubilee singer with a group that toured the Eastern Seaboard (South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and New Jersey). Van spent his very early years in Savannah, GA and Estill, SC; his teen years in South Carolina and New Jersey; finally choosing to live his adult years in New Jersey.

At 15 years of age, Van started singing gospel music on radio and did limited touring with a group that was made up mostly of close relatives (an aunt, uncles, grand-unchle and friends). During this time, he aslo sang on radio with a high school quartet taht was organizaed and managed by James R. Nelson, teacher/coach. It was under the guidance and vocal coaching of James R. Nelson and Delores Taylor that Van won the New Farmers of America Club competition for several years at the county, regional and state levels. Here he represented his high school as the principal solo singer. Although Van enjoyed singing both goespel and popular music, he also relished listening to and singing classical music.

Soon Van began singing as a semi-professional for local banquets, churches, weddings, and sponsored concerts. Upon completing high school, Van received an academic/music scholarship to attend Voorhees Jr. College. While he was at Voorhees, he was the principal soloist for special assemblies and concerts.

It was duing one of his performances at a special assembly that representatives from a major record label approached Van about singing with the label. Van did not feel that he knew enough about the music industry to make an intelligent decision and, therefore, decided to continue with his college education. While he did not take advantae of this opportunity, Van did make the acquintance of a lovely young woman who was to become his spouse and partner, Isabel Jackson, the college beauty queen. Theirs has been a long and mutually enriching relationship.

Althoug his academic concentartion was in education, psychology and speech, he continued his private lessons in classical music with Muriel Potts. Upon receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees from Voorhees Jr. College, Hampton Institure and Kean College, respectively, Van worked as a teacher, school principal and education administrator for the New Jersey State Department of Education and White Lung Association of New Jersey/New York. During this time, Van and his wife, Isabel, focused on rearing their seven children. Van also continued his formal study of voice/opera with Dorothy Hunter Banks and Gayford W. French.

Van seriously considered launching his career as a concert/opera singer and recording artist following his successful New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall, where Will Crutchfield of The New York Times gave him a very encouraging review. However, he again put hi s career on hold until the children completed their formal education.

Van continued to hone his skills and knowledge of the music industry by studying musicianship with Ann Johns Ruckert of Ruckert Music (NYC) and Steven Zuckerman of Entertainment Network/Cutting Edge, Inc. (NYC).

In the entertainment arena, Van continued to gain star recognition as a singer of Spirituals, Jazz, Gospel, Pop and Classical music.

Van and Isabel created a wonderful family. There are five sons and two daughters who are accomplished in their own fields. With this success under his belt, he decided to pursue his music career full-time. Van has recorded five independent albums and has signed with an established record company.

It goes without saying that Van has become an in-demand concert singer/recording artisit, because of his suberb mix of Gospel/Spirituals, Jazz, Classical, Ballad and Pop repertoire.

Truly, Van's great voice and unique talent must be heard and enjoyed globally.
