Details:
The Five Tones are a high-energy, primal journey to the juke joints of Mississippi. Haunting, reverb-drenched guitar, dynamic harmonica, and a freight train rhythm section form this blues/rock trio. Cody Shipley plays vintage Silvertone guitars from the early 60âs to get a vintage sound that combines the early blues sounds of John Lee Hooker and R.L. Burnside with the power trio rock of the 60âs from bands like Cream and Jimi Hendrix.

*Winner of the 2003 Magic City Blues Societyâs Battle of the Bands* (Birmingham, AL)*

*2003 Best Unsigned Blues Band in Alabama*

*Top 10 finalist out of over 100 bands at The 2004 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN*

âCody Shipley breathes new life into the blues, Heâs a fiery and inventive guitarist with a highly original approach to playing slide. His voice perfectly suits his material, and his talent and presentation belie his age. Cody and bassist Aaron Clouse play with an almost-telepathic connection. Aaron provides the faultless, rock-solid foundation from which Codyâs grinding fills and soaring, wailing solos cry out.â
-Birmingham Weekly

âCody Shipley has mastered his guitarâ¦the slide work is polished and slick as it gets. Tremendous talent, raw power, and self-assurance. Combined with Aaron Clouse on bass, The Five Tones comes across showing a variety of mixed influences combining to make an imaginative and creative sound all their own.â
