High Energy Rock and Roll

13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ROCK: Hard Rock

Details:
ROCKET CITY RIOT was formed in North Alabama in 1998 by multi-instrumentalist John Mark King as part of the HIGH ENERGY ROCK AND ROLL movement lead by bands like Electric Frankenstein, The Hellacopters and the Gaza Strippers.

The following year, RCR recorded its first full-length album We Name the Guilty Men and cemented its place in Rock N Roll history with an appearance on the first volume of the seminal 13- volume Fistful of Rock N Roll compilation series, the modern equivalent to Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era.

HIGH ENERGY ROCK AND ROLL bands play loud and snotty rock with influences ranging from Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and Muddy Waters to Iggy and the Stooges, the MC5 and AC/DC.

It's an infusion of style and substance into the inflated and commercialized punk scene dominated by over-hyped bands like Blink182 and Green Day.

But RCR adds more to that equation with a healthy dose of catchy, hook-laden Power Pop not dissimilar from the Ramones, Cheap Trick, and the Romantics. The resulting mesh of 50s abandon and late-70s optimism is a Rock N Roll hybrid that's both fresh and familiar.

Twenty Stone Blatt Records of Scotland released RCR's first album in 1999 to rave reviews in the U.K. press. Meanwhile, RCR made several compilation appearances in the USA while recording their second album, Middle Age Suicide.

RCR moved to Washington D.C. in early 2002 with King on lead vocals, bass and guitar, Dave Seiden on lead guitar and Alan Slimak on drums; they have played hundreds of successful shows in the DC Metro area, proving that fans of good music are starving for something both new and classic: brand new ROCK with deep roots.

RCR recorded their third album, Pop Killer, in 2004 and further perfected their unique hybrid of pop sensibilities and hip-shaking rock and roll with a rollicking 40-plus-minute string of infectious high-fidelity tunes that are sure to bring joy and excess to just about any party in America. Already getting enormous buzz in DC and beyond, this record is set to finally introduce ROCKET CITY RIOT to the world. So stick it in, press play, turn it up and hear the sounds of Rock and Roll history.
