My parents sang and played bluegrass and country songs as far back as I can remember. When I turned 12, they bought me a mandolin and a year later my Dad and I started playing bluegrass with Geoff Stelling at a pizza place every Tuesday. Around this time I met and heard Stuart Duncan.
He was a big influence on me and my music. My Dad then bought me a fiddle and I picked up some Scott Stoneman and Dale Potter records and listened to them night and day.

We also had a family bluegrass band and went to lots of festivals. I watched Bryon Berline perform and he became another great influence in my life. When I was 16, I started playing with Lost Highway and toured with Doug Dillard, which took me to Nashville, where I had the honor of backing up Bill Monroe a time or two.

When I turned 17, I worked for Opryland, who had a theatre in Branson. Then a few years later I started competing in fiddling contests winning the Four Corners States Championship on fiddle, the California State Championship on fiddle and guitar, and placed in the Top 10 at the National Championship in Weiser, Idaho. I also placed in the Top 10 at a fiddling competition at the Marriott Hotel in Nashville, (accompanied by Mark O'Connor),where I stood next to Terry Morris on stage. I was also priveleged to perform on stage with Marvin Rainwater and Jack Green.

I currently live in Oregon with my wife of 19 years and my 16-year-old son. Without Alton Wayne, of Tumalo Records, the recording of this CD would not have been possible. I love working for him and
recording for singers at his studio.

I First met Roger Berggren about twelve years ago.He was
playing music with his wife,Nancy,and her family band,
"The red heads".They were playing country and western
music.Roger was playing fiddle and had an eletric guitar
hanging on his shoulder.I was hearing a special talent
in roger.I found out later that he grew up in a family
bluegrass band.
I asked him if he would play in my recording studio and
he accepted.He has learned to play other instruments as
well.Most instruments with strings,and he has become an
excellent studio musician.
I Suggested that he should make a CD recording of his
music for the world to hear.He agreed and we have
completed "Cascade Rain".
You are going to love this CD and i believe Roger's
music is on the way.I am happy to be a small part of
making this happen.
