WORLD: Middle East, WORLD: Judaica
Details:
Introducing Rabbinical School Dropouts! Reissued with new sound and new art! This is the album that started it all - dropping Esoteric Space Klezmer like a ton of bricks onto an unsuspecting, ill-prepared, and unappreciative populace. But like the initially violent conflict between spaceships and ancient peoples sonically depicted in Gremlin in the Kremlin (track 12), the peoples of earth slowly became accustomed to RSD, eventually developing a chemical addiction to their alternatively soothing and seething sounds.
Introducing Rabbinical School Dropouts! And when youâre addicted to the Dropouts, you need Introducing. You have another source for instrumentals about the underground railroad (Tubmanâs Zimerot, track 5)? Already have enough afro-cuban / subcontinental / hip-hop with live-samples romps dedicated to a man in an Orange Guru Suit on Pioneer Blvd (track 6)? Not unless you already have a few copies of Introducing.
Introducing Rabbinical School Dropouts! To those who ask where the âtheâ went, we say: be silent! And listen to the barest supra-silence that begins Maimonidesâ (track 9) quest into the esoterica which joins faith to reason, and hear that pretty soon the supra isnât so bare. You will, however, want to bare it all to the seductive sounds of Zemer La Freak (track 1).
Introducing Rabbinical School Dropouts! Speaking of seduction, Introducing contains the only recorded version of Bashtal of Bhudastahn that includes the âSeductress & the Rabbiâ breakdown and buildup (track 7).
Introducing Rabbinical School Dropouts! The most original Hanukkah songs since the Hasmoneans (tracks 4 and 8). The merciless Dropoutification of traditional forms in Mock Wedding Tantz (query - mock tanzt, real wedding, or vice versa? - find out in track 3), Avâs Bulgar (track 10), and Meshugeneh Hora (track 11).
Introducing Rabbinical School Dropouts! If you havenât figured out Rabbinical School Dropouts by track 12, Portraits in Esoteric Space Klezmer (track 13) gives it to you as clearly as possible, which is to say, like the floodwaters of the Nile. You need it bad, and that ainât good.

Ravi Deo: Tabla, Congas
